some flat earth maps from the 1500's show Antarctica as land masses withouth ice. but in the maps after 1892 show that Antarctica lands frozen. I heard the saying "when hell freezes over" is a direct relation to this idea I propose. Also that is where God imprisoned Satan and that is why it's froze, to trap Satan.
