Reading accounts of 731 - I'm struck by forced rapes to create more test subjects, random sadistic tests with little rigor, lots of vivisections and the occasional barbaric scientific test that actually produced a useful result. Sounds quite similar to the current US Secret Space Program and how it procures it's test subjects and the endless drive towards a new weapon that will never have a dual use spin off.

I wonder how many backers will remain unapologetic afterwards, and if they will get off scot free like the Unit 731 members did. And how pointless "gradual reform" of a system designed to this to sentient beings is.

The concept of scot free is an illusion, just like time.

If wrongdoers remain unapologetic, there's always the possibility to put them into the bodies of their own victims and let them experience the other side, until they get the point.
