When I look at the gaming industry and then look at the people who invented or were foundational members or initiators of web sites such as social media, they had some connection to the Gaming Industry - be it online or an actual company.
I am aware that most of these platforms or 'engagement programs' have a tendency to grow and morph into something more formidable (whether it be deemed good or bad) but started off as a game a competition or were set in an arena.
I was reminded of this recently when looking some of the security pass and personal identification measures which are pre-crime initiatives, purporting going to be implemented so people can gain access/entry at sports venues and music festivals.
In the name of fun - its all a game, until someone looses and its too late to then realize the game was rigged, and in our immersion - we missed all the signs around us.
