Naomi Klein's 'Shock Doctrine' is a must read for a perspective on the methods and means of the big players. It goes up to about 2009 and looks at the agendas in South America, Russia, the Middle East and so on. In essence you force the target to sign up to the 'Free Market' (often by supporting and bribing military dictatorships if other methods fail like corruption and threats and menaces and you can also create a pretense to invade) then you go in and buy everything of value. Meanwhile you undercut local producers - if there any left - with your imports because all the tariffs and protections are removed by the wealthy compromised puppets. Publicly owned assets are the most hated by the free marketeers and are the most ripe for making super profits. When powerful people talk about freedom it means freedom for them to control everything.

"Speaking russian is forbidden"? Certainly not, there are lots of Ukrainian people in the eastern part of Ukraine, whose native language is Russian. It has been perfectly ok to speak your own language. I don't currently live there, but have lots of friends there. The Russian aggressions since 2014 in Ukraine have escalated the situation, as the Russians started to use the language as a weapon creating divisions, trying to make the Russian speaking Ukrainians to identify themselves as Russians.
